“Friends of BEC” Sponsorship programme
BEC was formed in the late 1980s and has since then performed at different venues in and around Tokyo to raise money for local charities. Over the years, BEC has managed to attract a group of music lovers around itself as regular guests at BEC’s concerts. Many of these guests have a special relationship with BEC and they could be called “Friends of BEC”.
All BEC concerts are free of admission charges and the choir is entirely voluntary. However, as the level of the choir’s singing improves and its repertoire widens, so grows the need to sing with an increasing number of guest musicians and at more professional venues. This has led to an increase in the costs of performances.
As BEC wants to keep all the concerts free and to continue singing for charities, it has established a sponsorship programme called “Friends of BEC”. Funds from the “Friends of BEC” programme are in principle used to cover the costs for: the use of venues; the development and production of concert flyers and programmes; the engagement of guest musicians; and providing for future performances.
The “Friends of BEC” programme is open to anyone in the community. It has been introduced to our existing supporters but is also promoted through BEC’s website and through publicity in the local media.
